Stuck in the airport terminal with endless delays?
Live near an airport and want to find out what's going on?
Have you always wondered what pilots talk to air traffic controllers about?
Now you can stop wondering and tune in live!
LiveATC for Android provides a quick and easy way to listen in on live conversations between pilots and air traffic controllers near many airports around the world. LiveATC for Android lets you browse by U.S. state or by country to find an airport and listen in to live air traffic conversations at or near a given airport. You can also use the "Nearby" feature to find an airport near you. You can then add any channel to your Favorites list for quick and easy access.
The LiveATC Network (http://liveatc.net) is the world's largest network of streaming audio feeds focused solely on aviation, currently covering over 1,200 airports around the world with over 2,000 different audio feeds and growing daily!
Explanation of some of the needed device permissions:
• The "Location" permission is required so that the app can determine what airports are located in your area when you select "Nearby"
• The "Device ID & Call Information" permission is needed by the app so that it can detect when you're placing or receiving a phone call so that it can automatically stop the audio stream to prevent it from interfering with your phone call
*** IMPORTANT NOTICE ***
Please check to see if your country, city and/or airports of interest are covered by LiveATC *BEFORE PURCHASING* - check at: http://liveatc.net . Note that we currently have no coverage in the U.K., Belgium, , Iceland, India, Italy, New Zealand, Spain and some other countries where streaming ATC communications is prohibited by local law. Available airports are subject to change at any time - LiveATC owns and operates many of the receivers used in the network but most are provided by volunteers working in cooperation with LiveATC. Available airports can change, sometimes due to reasons beyond LiveATC's control. Also, there is no guarantee that all feeds will be up 24/7, though we make our best effort to do so and have a great track record of uptime.

I was wary when ing this considering there were many mixed reviews about it. So far most of it has been great Some of the frequencies can be very static and sometimes can't hear actual ATC but some of them are perfect It all just depends on what frequency you're on. Also it would be nice up with some more airports as there are limited. Overall though it is a very good app and I love the extra diagrams it comes with, haven't actually gone on radar to check if there is any delaybutseem👌

Exactly what I wanted. A reliable app for listening to air traffic in, out, and around Tulsa International. It is configurable to pause when switching apps or continue to play if out of the app. Works perfectly. I use it with the Plane Finder radar, so I know the transmissions are live and real time. It's worth every penny.

Fairly decent interface, but it does have some annoyances I'd like to see smoothed out. It asks for location permissions every time I change the airport because it wants to show me nearby airports. I don't want that feature and I can't turn it off, so I have to dismiss two different popups each time. It's not easy to understand exactly which airspace the ATC sectors cover, so tracking a flight through different areas is difficult. I don't really even know where to go for that information.

UX does not look correct in tablets or in wide devices. I have a Samsung Tab A9+. It's usually in landscape mode. When I open LiveATC and tap on Diagram or on WX Radar, a pop up window shows up but only the header of the window is visible at the bottom of the screen. If I try doing the device with tge device rotated to portrait mode, I can only half of the pop up window now. The only workaround I have is to vertically split the screen with another app, and the window is now visible, but tiny.

Solution for other s: For those of you having issues with the app still running in the background after closing it, try this: Hit the pause audio before closing the app. This will shut the app down completely without having to force stop the app. If you don't hit the pause button, the audio will continue in the background. I hope this helps everyone with this issue.

Last update totally broke the app. If I turn my screen off, the app stops. If I navigate to another app, LiveATC stops. I have to constantly click the play button to restart the stream. It used to be the exact opposite: even closing the app wouldn't stop the stream. I had to force stop it in the phone settings. Please find a middle ground, so that I can listen to the stream with the phone screen off or if I’m looking at another app, but also stop the stream when the app is actually closed.

Nice navigation with lots of features. You can enable background playing through the settings, but it requires giving additional permissions to the app. My only disappointment is that I can't select multiple channels at the same time (i.e. Approach & departure or multiple runways at the same airport). As a companion to Flightaware or FlightRadar 24, it works great to hear what's driving the contrails nearby!

Not sure why all the poor reviews recently, seems to work fine for me. Obviously some stations will have better reception than others (as it depends on the incoming radio feed reception), but overall it's working great. Love that I can Chromecast the stream from this app. More than happy to pay $4 for this app to the service, nothing else like it out there. Thanks for your work!
